We make every child the hero of their own story.
Kiddil started with a simple, stubborn belief: that every single child deserves to open a book and find themselves inside it — not a generic cartoon kid, but their own name on the cover, their own face smiling back from the page, their own little adventure waiting to be read.
It began at bedtime. One of us was reading the same picture book for the hundredth night in a row, and a small voice asked, "But where am I in the story?" We couldn't answer. So we set out to build the thing that didn't exist yet — a way to turn a name and a single photo into a fully-illustrated tale where your child is unmistakably the star. A few late nights, a lot of crayons, and one very patient toddler later, the first Kiddil book was made.
Today we're still a small team of parents, illustrators, writers and tinkerers, working from one shared table and one shared rule: make the kind of book we'd want our own kids to keep. Stories that feel hand-made, never mass-produced. Adventures that are theirs — and only theirs.
Two hands, one heart.
Look closely at our little mark and you'll see it — a grown-up hand and a small hand, cradling a heart between them. That's the whole company in one picture. Kiddil is what happens when the person who loves a child most makes them something with their own care. We're just the helpers in the middle, turning that love into a book they'll treasure long after they've outgrown the toys.
Made slowly, made with love
We could have built a factory that spits out the same five stories with a name swapped in. We didn't. Every Kiddil book is composed page by page, with art that actually matches the world your child is in and words written to be read aloud, again and again, without driving you quietly mad.
We obsess over the things that last: thick, creamy pages that survive sticky fingers; hardback covers built to be pulled off the shelf a thousand times; colours mixed from a warm, gentle palette that's kind on little eyes at bedtime. And we sweat the quiet stuff too — every tale carries a small, age-appropriate lesson about kindness, courage or curiosity, tucked in so gently they'll never feel taught, only delighted.
If it isn't good enough to become the book your family asks for night after night, it doesn't leave our table.
One photo becomes a hero who looks like them.
The heart of Kiddil is turning a real child into a storybook character — warmly, safely, and unmistakably them.
It really looks like them
We capture the little details — the hair, the smile, the spark — and re-draw them as a friendly storybook character, never a cold filter pasted on a page.
Their photos stay private
Photos are encrypted, used only to make your book, never sold and never used to train AI. They're yours — delete them permanently whenever you like.
Always age-appropriate
Every page is checked for warmth and safety, with gentle lessons about being brave, kind and curious woven quietly into the adventure.
The moment they see themselves
She opened the cover, saw her own name and just whispered 'that's ME'. I wasn't ready to cry over a book at 7pm, but here we are.
You can feel that real people made this. The paper, the binding, the little story details — it doesn't feel like a gimmick, it feels like a keepsake.
Three years on and it's still the book my son pulls off the shelf first. That's the whole review, honestly.
