Wooden Fitting Board — Farm Vehicles and Shapes

A wooden board and a set of shaped pieces — tractors, farm machinery and geometric shapes — that fit into it. A challenge booklet sets which pieces to use, and every one has to go in with no space left over.

How you play

1. Open the booklet and pick a difficulty level.
2. Look at which pieces the challenge uses.
3. Start with the largest and most awkward shapes.
4. Fit the smaller pieces into what is left.
5. The challenge is done when the board is full with no gaps.

What it builds

• Fitting shapes into a fixed area, which is core spatial reasoning
• Starting with the constrained pieces rather than the easy ones
• Naming farm machinery while handling it
• Working up a difficulty ladder at their own pace

Three ways to play it

• Do a level, then try to solve it a second way
• Name each vehicle as it goes in
• Take one piece away and see whether the rest still fit
