Choose a brain teaser by the task and age label

A puzzle can invite a child to look, try a move and talk about what happened. It cannot promise a sharper mind or a longer attention span. Start with the age and warning on the exact box, then choose a task your child wants to try. The AAP's play guidance emphasizes shared and unstructured play, not a special product category.

• Ages 3–5: the Twisting Apple and Pattern Logic Board are listed for this range. Try one shape or card and let the child turn it in their own way.
• Ages 5–7: Farm Fence has 80 listed levels; choose an easier card first and take a break when needed.
• Ages 6–8: Dinosaur Path has 36 listed levels. Ask what route the child wants to test rather than solving it for them.
• Ages 8–10: Klotski is a sliding challenge. The Block Pattern Duel is listed for ages 8–12 and adds a shared race if your child enjoys that format.

Make a challenge inviting, not a test
