Description
A logic board where your child builds a working route between a start point and a finish. It comes with a grid board, transparent plastic pieces in straight sections and curves, and a small figure that travels the finished path. Each challenge fixes the two end points and leaves the route to your child.
How you play
- Pick a challenge and find its start and finish points on the board.
- Look at the straight and curved pieces available and work out which route can connect the two.
- Fit the pieces into the grid so the path joins up with no gaps.
- Run the figure along the route to test it.
- If it stops, pull pieces out, change the route and try again.
What it builds
- Planning ahead, because the route has to be worked out before the pieces go in
- Spatial reasoning — reading directions, curves and angles and how they join
- Persistence, since a wrong route is meant to be pulled apart and rebuilt
- Hand-eye coordination from seating pieces accurately in the grid
Three ways to play it
- Build backwards from the finish; it makes a solved challenge feel new
- Set each other challenges — one person places the two end points, the other builds the route
- Run the same challenge twice and see whether the second route is shorter
The details
- Ages: 8–10 years
