Description
A wooden board with coloured pieces that slide along fixed tracks. Each challenge card shows an arrangement to reach, and the rule is that pieces move along the tracks only — you cannot lift one out and drop it where you want. That single restriction turns a simple sorting task into a real puzzle.
How you play
- Draw a challenge card and see the arrangement you have to reach.
- Look at the tracks and work out which pieces can move where.
- Plan the order — moving one piece may block another.
- Slide the pieces along the tracks, never lifting them.
- Keep going until the board matches the card.
What it builds
- Planning an order of moves rather than a single move
- Working inside a constraint, which is what makes a puzzle a puzzle
- Anticipating a blockage before creating it
- Colour recognition, used rather than drilled
Three ways to play it
- Talk through the first few moves aloud before touching anything
- Count moves and try to solve the same card more efficiently
- Set an arrangement for each other instead of using the cards
The details
- Ages: 3–6 years
- Material: wood
