Description
Coloured wooden sticks and rods that your child arranges to reproduce the geometric shapes on the challenge cards. It is simple to pick up and surprisingly exact — a stick a few degrees off makes the shape wrong, so it rewards careful looking.
How you play
- Pick a card and study the shape drawn on it.
- Find the sticks and rods that match it in length and colour.
- Lay the first stick down and build outwards from it.
- Check the angles against the card as you go.
- Compare the finished shape with the card and correct anything off.
What it builds
- Copying a shape exactly, which is harder than recognising one
- Noticing angle and length, not just colour
- Steady hand placement without knocking what is already down
- Geometric vocabulary, used while building
Three ways to play it
- Build a shape yourself and let your child copy it without a card
- Make a shape, then rebuild it from memory
- Give the same card to two people and compare
The details
- Ages: 3–6 years
- Material: wood
