Lens Frame Observation Puzzle — Find and Capture

A wooden base, a deck of busy picture cards — dinosaurs, nature scenes — and wooden pieces with round holes cut through them like magnifying lenses. The task is to lay those pieces over the card so that only the characters the challenge asks for show through the holes, and nothing else.

How you play

1. Choose a challenge card and put it on the wooden base.
2. Read which characters you have to capture.
3. Pick up the pieces with the round holes and hold them over the card.
4. Turn and slide them like a puzzle until only the right characters show through.
5. Check nothing extra is showing, then move to a harder card.

What it builds

• Searching a busy picture for specific things
• Working with a constraint — showing one thing means hiding another
• Rotating and fitting pieces together, puzzle-style
• Checking your own work before declaring it done

• Race the same card and compare how each of you solved it
• Let your child set the target characters for you
• Start with the cards that ask for one character before the multi-target ones
