Geometric Shape Puzzle — Fill the Card Challenge

A card-led shape puzzle. Each challenge card shows an outline, and your child fills it using the blue and green tiles. The point of the game is that more than one combination fills the same outline, so two children can reach the same answer by completely different routes.

How you play

1. Draw a challenge card and look at the shape it asks for.
2. Look at the blue and green tiles in front of you.
3. Work out which combination fills the outline exactly.
4. Lay the tiles in place until the shape is complete.
5. Try the same card again using a different set of tiles.

What it builds

• Seeing that a problem can have more than one right answer
• Reading area, and how smaller shapes combine into a larger one
• Trying, undoing and retrying without treating a wrong go as failure
• Turning and flipping a tile in the mind before placing it

Three ways to play it

• Solve a card, then challenge your child to solve it again a different way
• Let them draw their own outline for you to fill
• Start with the easiest cards face up so a younger child can pick their level
