Cats and Mice Logic Puzzle — Single Player

A single-player logic puzzle built around cats and mice. Each challenge sets a starting position and your child has to work out the placement that solves it, testing an idea and adjusting when it does not work. It is a quiet game, played alone, with one correct answer to find.

How you play

1. Set the pieces up as the challenge shows.
2. Look at the whole board before moving anything.
3. Try a placement and see what it rules out.
4. Adjust and try again — a wrong attempt narrows the options.
5. Keep going until the challenge is solved, then move to the next.

What it builds

• Logical elimination — using a failed attempt as information
• Thinking a move ahead instead of trying at random
• Working alone at something without an adult to check every step
• Persistence, since the answer does not arrive on the first go

Three ways to play it

• Talk a challenge through out loud so the reasoning gets said
• Come back to a hard one the next day rather than pushing through
• Let your child set a position and try to solve it yourself
