Picture Books & Stories
Illustrated stories for reading together, from classic tales to everyday adventures.
Choosing a picture book
In a good picture book the pictures tell half the story: your child can point, name and retell it long before they can read. For a toddler, choose one idea per book and sturdy pages; from three, stories with a lesson (honesty, sharing, courage) that you can talk about afterwards.
By age
- 0 to 3: classic tales in the D Book series, such as Little Red Riding Hood and The Big Carrot, and bilingual fables like B Book: The Lion and the Mouse.
- 2 to 5: the I Am Muslim series on everyday manners, starting with I Am Muslim: Table Manners & Sleep, and the Bilingual Moral & Fantasy Stories Series.
- 4 to 7: the I Want to Be series, one career per book, from I Want to Be a Doctor to I Want to Be an Engineer.
Worth knowing
Series are a good way to build a reading habit: a child who liked one book often asks for the next. For stories of faith, see the prophets and Islamic stories.
