Ring Toss Set — Cross Base with Coloured Posts

A cross-shaped base with coloured posts standing up from it, and a set of rings to throw over them. It sets up in seconds, plays indoors or out, and the difficulty is set simply by where everybody stands.

How you play

1. Clip the cross base together and stand it on a flat surface.
2. Agree a throwing line — the further back, the harder it gets.
3. Take a ring and aim for a post.
4. Score it however you like: by post, or by colour.
5. Play until everyone has thrown their rings, then count up.

What it builds

• Judging distance with the eye and matching force to it
• Aim that improves visibly over a few rounds

• Taking turns and playing in a group, indoors or outside

Three ways to play it

• Give the furthest post the highest score
• Move the throwing line back each round
• Play cooperatively — see how many rings the group can land in total
