Shape Stencil Drawing Set — Trace and Learn Shapes

A set of pieces in geometric shapes — star, triangle, circle and more — that a child draws around to build pictures. It bridges two things that usually stay separate: naming shapes, and using them to make something.

How you play

1. Spread the shapes out and name the ones your child knows.
2. Hold one down firmly on the paper.
3. Draw around its edge with a pencil.
4. Move it, or pick another shape, and draw around that too.
5. Turn the outlines into a picture — a house, a face, a rocket.

• Shape names, learned while drawing rather than reciting

Three ways to play it

• Draw around the same shape repeatedly to make a pattern
• Overlap two shapes and colour only where they cross
