Description
Ladybugs that split into two halves, each half carrying a letter — a capital on one side, its lowercase partner on the other. A and a make one ladybug; B and b make another. Your child matches them until every ladybug is whole again.
How you play
- Separate all the ladybug halves and mix them up.
- Pick a half and say the letter on it.
- Hunt for the half carrying the same letter in the other case.
- Press them together to complete the ladybug.
- Carry on until every letter has found its pair.
What it builds
- That a capital and a lowercase letter are the same letter — a real hurdle
- Letter recognition in both forms
- Matching and sorting through a large set
- Memory, as the remaining halves get harder to place
Three ways to play it
- Start with six or eight ladybugs rather than the whole set
- Do the letters of your child's name first
- Lay the completed ladybugs out in alphabetical order
The details
- Ages: 3–6 years
